Club (ages 11-18)

Welcome to the heart of Carolina Legacy—our Club Volleyball Program. Here, athletes are developed through high-level training, strong team culture, and a commitment to personal growth. Whether you're chasing college dreams or growing your game, Legacy is where it all comes together.

Our teams at Legacy are organized into four divisions to welcome athletes of all abilities. Age groups within each division may vary from season to season, depending on interest and demand.

National Division

CLVC National teams train at a high level, with two team practices each week plus an additional clinic focused on position-specific skills and strength and conditioning. These teams have the most competitive and travel-intensive schedule in the club, including 11 multi-day tournaments—four of which are USAV national qualifiers—both in and out of state.

The season runs from November through late June and is designed for athletes who are serious about playing at the collegiate level. Players in this division are expected to fully commit to their training, teammates, and travel schedule as they pursue their goals.

Semi-National Division

CLVC Semi-National teams hold two team practices each week, along with a weekly clinic that focuses on position-specific skills and strength and conditioning. These teams follow an active travel schedule, competing in 8 multi-day tournaments across both in-state and out-of-state locations.

The season runs from November through April, offering a focused, high-level experience for players aiming to train and compete with college play in mind, but within a shorter season. Athletes at this level are expected to fully commit to their team, training, and travel schedule commitments as they work toward their goals.

Regional-Plus Division

CLVC Regional Plus teams practice twice a week and attend an additional weekly clinic focused on position-specific skills and strength and conditioning. Each season, these teams compete in four multi-day tournaments and three single-day tournaments, with one event requiring an overnight stay.

The season runs from November to early April and is designed for players who want to make serious improvements and compete in a competitive team environment, but are limited on the time they can commit.

Regional Division

CLVC Regional teams practice twice a week and focus on building essential skills through team training and consistent reps. Each season, these teams compete in one multi-day tournament and five single-day tournaments throughout the Carolina region.

The season runs from November to early April and is a great fit for athletes who are new to the game and looking to grow their skills. Players will gain valuable court experience while learning the fundamentals of team play and developing confidence in their abilities.

FAQ

What should I expect at Open Play and Tryouts?

We strongly encourage athletes and parents to attend as many open play sessions as possible prior to tryouts. Open play sessions are walk-in only and are $10/session. These events are a great way to experience the energy and culture of our gym, connect with our coaching staff, and get a feel for our training style. They also allow coaches to begin building relationships with athletes before the official evaluations begin.

Tryout registration must be completed in advance. The cost is $60 per player if you pre-register, and $75 per player for walk-ins or same-day registrations. If you are unable to pay by credit card, please contact the club director ahead of time to make alternative arrangements and ensure your athlete’s spot.

To help tryouts run smoothly, we ask that athletes arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled start time. Proper volleyball attire is required, including court shoes, knee pads, a t-shirt, and either spandex or athletic shorts. Players should come ready to compete, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and respond to coaching.

Parents are an important part of the tryout process. Providing your athlete with calm support, making sure they’re well-hydrated and nourished, and ensuring they’re dressed appropriately can make a big difference. Be sure you’ve received your email confirmation for tryout registration and payment before arriving. Parents are welcome to stay and observe tryouts—we look forward to meeting you, too!

We also encourage all parents to attend the informational meeting held before or after all open play sessions. These meetings cover key details about the season, teams, fees, coaching staff, and club expectations. It’s a great time to meet the director and ask any questions you may have.

We can’t wait to meet your family and see the talent and passion each athlete brings to the court. See you at tryouts!

If your player would like to be considered for an older age group, please inform our staff at check-in on the first day of tryouts. We’ll make a note of this on their player card, which is created during check-in.

How will we be notified?

If your child is selected for a team, you will first receive a personal phone call extending the offer. Shortly after the call, an official offer email will be sent to you.

This email will include:

  • A customized payment plan
  • All required participation documents
  • Information about team uniforms
  • Details about our Signing Day Celebration
  • A link to accept or decline the offer online

Please note: You will have 24 hours from the time the offer is made to respond using the link provided in the email.

Will we know who else is on the team?

No — team rosters will not be released during the offer process. Each athlete's offer is made individually, and decisions are confidential during this time.

Accepting or Declining an Offer

To respond to your offer, simply follow the link included in the email. You will be able to accept or decline the offer directly through that link.

If you choose to accept:

  • A non-refundable deposit (amount TBD) is due at the time of acceptance to secure your athlete’s spot.
  • Payments can be made online or by check.

If your family needs more time to submit the deposit, please contact us before completing the acceptance form so we can adjust your payment schedule.

If you decline the offer, we kindly ask that you do so through the same link in the email so we can move forward with other athletes.

Important Reminder:

Once a player signs the official Player Commitment Form, they are no longer eligible to play for another club, in accordance with USAV National Policy.

What happens if my child doesn’t make a team?

As part of our mission to remain a small, family-centered club, we focus on building teams that offer the highest quality experience for each athlete — not just filling spots because we have the numbers. This means we won’t form teams unless we feel confident we can provide the coaching, attention, and development each player deserves.

If your child is not placed on a team, you will be notified by email using the address provided during tryout registration.

But this doesn’t mean your athlete’s journey with CLVC has to end! There are still plenty of ways to stay involved and continue building skills, confidence, and love for the game:

  • Spring & Fall Youth Leagues – structured team play in a supportive, fun environment
  • Beyond Youth Winter Program – focused training for players not quite ready for club or looking to build a stronger foundation
  • Summer Beach & Camp Programs – great for staying active and developing new skills
  • Private Lessons – we’re happy to help connect you with a well-matched coach for personalized development

We would love to accept every athlete who wants to be part of Legacy — but even when we can’t offer a team spot, we can offer continued growth, community, and encouragement.

Your athlete has a place here. We’d love to walk alongside them as they grow and work toward next year’s tryouts!

I have more questions. Who should I contact?

We'd love to hear from you! Use the links below to reach out via email.
